Hello daga, I was chatting to a man this morning and he told me that he goes to Poland regularly to listen to classical music. how about that then?

Of course some great composers were Polish weren’t they especially CHOPIN. there used to be two brilliant pianists by the name of rawithsc and landauer-- I know I have the spelling wrong, but they were fantastic, I always remember them duetting with Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody-- absolutely incredible. I believe that there was a Polish Composer, PREISNER (POLISH) who wrote music for films-- he composed music for the films “three colours blue” and all of that series. a french film.  it was for the FILM DIRECted by Krzysztof Kieslowski’s AND I think he was Polish. sadly he died and the chap “PREISNER” who composed the music wrote “Requiem for my Friend” especially in memory of K K.  this is a website with a little about the film and KK.  Preisner also wrote music for the “ Secret Garden” among many others.

Thank you for that subject. It’s really nice. I will answer you latter, I’m very busy at the work these days, especially now- it’s the end of the year and every company wants to do research. On weekend I will have more time.

This subject is not so close to me so I had to prepare a little. And check a few things.

I have to admit that I have never been a big fan of classical music. I know some of the most popular pieces. When I found Andrew I started to look for more of classical stuff. Still I don’t know too much. This new thread about classical music is exactly for me too.
I’m affraid that I don’t know too much about Polish composers known abroad from Poland. I know Preisner (as you said he wrote music to Krzysztof Kieslowski and Agnieszka Holland movies and beyond that to many non Polish directors movies), Wojciech Killar (he wrote music to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Death and the Maiden, The Portrait of a Lady, The Ninth Gate, The Pianist) and Krzysztof Penderecki (The Exorcist and The Shining) all of them wrote music to Polish movies and a lot of non-movie compositions. It’s a shame but I don’t know much about them. I have to say that everything I had to check because I am not interested in who is known abroad. And I don’t know too much about classical music. I would like to learn more about that.
Now I live in Cracow (only two months so it could be my explanation) and thanks to you I checked thr repertoire of The Cracow Philharmonic.I found something interesting for me and probably I’ll start to regularly visit that place. It looks that you know classical music inside out. If you don’t mind, sometimes I would ask you and of course all of members who know classical (youthopera, I admire your knowledge) to help me chose what to see.
